The other day I was at Office Depot buying printer cartridges which cost so much you could almost buy a new printer, but that's another blog! I am at the check counter when it hits me! I have a $10 off coupon in my car! I know, you are asking, why does a Coupon Maven have their coupons in the car? You'd think that as a maven, I would have one of those fancy schmancy coupon organizers, right? Wrong! I keep mine in an envelope which I keep in the car so I don't have to have the "its in my other purse" problem.
There's no one in line behind so I decide to go for it! I say to the clerk: "I think I have a coupon in my car. Do you mind if I grab it?" She smiles and replies, "sure"! So I head to my car and grab my coupon… UH OH! Its from Office Max, not Office Depot! And its expired!
Again, I go for it! "You take competitor coupons, right?" "Sure", she replies. So I hand her the expired coupon. Hey, its worth a shot! Nothing ventured, nothing gained is what they say!
Two minutes later I have my cartridges and I'm heading to Starbucks so spend the $10 I just saved on a latte… wait, I think I have a coupon!
What's the morale of the story? JUST ASK! Like my Bubba Sadie used to say... "It couldn't hurt"!
